About Myanmar's Family List
Overview and sample of the Family List document
What Is a Family List?
A Family List is an official Myanmar document that records the family composition of a household. It serves a similar role to Japan's family register (koseki tohon), listing family members' names, dates of birth, and relationships.
It is an important document needed to verify the family relationships of a Myanmar spouse during international marriage procedures and spouse visa applications.
Sample of a Family List
We receive many questions about what this document actually looks like, so we have prepared a sample for reference. (Personal information has been masked.)
There is also a back side, but the front side shown here contains the most important information.
When Is a Family List Needed?
A Family List is needed in the following situations:
- When submitting a marriage registration in Japan (may be required depending on the municipal office)
- When applying for a spouse visa (Status of Residence: "Spouse or Child of Japanese National")
- As a required document when requesting proxy service for obtaining a Single Status Certificate
Japanese Translation of the Family List
A Japanese translation of the Family List is required when submitting it to Japanese government agencies. If you use our Single Status Certificate proxy service, a Japanese translation of the Family List is included in the deliverables.
